For generations, discourse concerning gender equality has been dominated by one set of voices. Gender issues were always referred to as “women’s issues”, even though the issues at hand were relevant, at the very least, to half of the population. Yet, 50% of those voices have been shut out and called irrelevant. Unimportant. Case closed.
One might even say that more than 50% of the voices have been excluded. Gender issues in America at least have been discussed and decided upon at the very beginning mostly by elite, white women. Even minority women were excluded from those discussions — so far in fact that even when (white) women (along with non-land owning men) were finally allowed the fundamental right to vote, minority women and men still could not.
It wouldn’t be for decades before black men and women finally won that right for themselves.
But what does it mean when such a small proportion of the population were the only ones allowed to raise concerns about traditional gender roles that affected them? What happens when you only “fix” harmful traditional expectations for one gender, while ignoring those of the other?
“I really thought long and hard. I dropped the label because I stopped seeing feminism as a movement for gender equality, including men’s issues. It seemed like it was really just for women’s issues.”
It’s Time To Hear All Voices
WokeFather was created by a father of two daughters. A father who raised his girls to think for themselves, to question everything, and to walk their own paths regardless where the crowds may be headed.
In our home we had basic rules. No violence – not between children, not between parents and children, and not between parents. And violence against others was also against the rules. Everyone is to be treated as though their lives and their right to safety and health is equal, regardless of race, gender, religion, or sexual orientation.
But over the years it became clear that not all parents, and in fact not all of society follows these rules – especially when it comes to gender: specifically boys and men.
There are not only gender-issue sites covering women’s issues – the entire mainstream media now takes a decidedly anti-male slant on almost every issue. Movies and TV shows have no problem with sexist jokes or violence against men, where there would be public outcry if the reverse were to occur. Comments made on Twitter every day against men would be immediately “cancelled” if the same comments were made against women.

It is witnessing this social phenomenon grow worse over the decades that it became clear the current one-sided discourse around gender issues has failed. The pursuit for “equality”, in attempting to only fix half the problem, has only created more inequality.
A new solution is needed, and that solution is egalitarianism.
What is Egalitarianism?
Egalitarianism is the principle we used in our household. Equal treatment is not decided upon based on someone’s gender or race – the rules are applied fairly across the board. Egalitarians believe that every human regardless of race, gender, religion, or sexual orientation deserve the same human rights as everyone else.
Due process, body autonomy, the value of one’s life and health, one’s right to safety and security, gender neutral laws that apply to everyone equally – these are the things anyone who supports equal rights should be pursuing. But today, they are not. Today, many who claim to support equal rights support hatred, inequality, sexism, biased commentary, and biased laws.
WokeFather is a new voice – not MRA and not Feminist. Egalitarian – and we will seek to bring this new and truly equal perspective to the greater public. It’s with the hope that one day we will have less people of each extreme, and the vast majority of the population adopting these egalitarian principles instead.
